Al-Kadhimi Chairs Meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security to Discuss security situation in Diyala

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security, in the presence of a number of security and military leaders to discuss the security situation in Diyala Governorate.

Al-Kadhimi issued a number of directives to the security and military leaders in Diyala, calling on all parties not to exploit the citizens’ tragedy to achieve certain things.

At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Kadhimi offered condolences the Iraqi people and the families of the “righteous civilian martyrs who fell at the hands of the terrorist gangs of Daesh”.

He further hailed “the performance of the Iraqi forces in the speed of response and rapid response, with the outstanding heroic performance of the brave men in the security forces.”

The PM added that “Daesh gangs were looking for a foothold in the province, but it is impossible for them to do so,” calling on “all parties not to exploit the citizens’ tragedy, in order to achieve certain things, and we must unite in order to defeat terrorism.”
