Salih Meets Swedish FM, Urges Regional, International Action to Reduce Tensions in the Region

Iraq’s President Barham Salih met Swedish Foreign Minister and stressed the need for regional and international action to reduce tensions in the region and to cooperate in facing the climate change crisis.

Salih received on Thursday at his residence in New York the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs Ann Linde on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings.

Salih said that “Iraq is looking forward to strengthening its security and stability, and working on the need to ensure fairness and justice in the elections scheduled for October 10, noting that Iraq is looking forward to strengthening security and stability in the region and coordinating with the international community to achieve that.”

During the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of strengthening existing relations between the two countries in various fields, hailing the support provided by Sweden to Iraq in the humanitarian fields.
