Aboul Gheit: Algeria’s preparations for the Arab summit are ‘very serious’

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said that Algeria’s preparations for the Arab summit scheduled for next November are “very serious”.

Aboul Gheit made his remarks on Tuesday as he met Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on the sidelines of a visit to the country to discuss preparations for this date.

“I submitted to the President a comprehensive report on what I and my brother, Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra, have reached in preparing for this upcoming summit.” Aboul Gheit said.

He continued, “It seems to me certain that there are very serious Algerian preparations for this summit scheduled for November 1 and 2 next year.”

He added, “We will continue with the Algerian Foreign Ministry in preparing for this summit, and I will visit the conference headquarters to investigate the full vision with regard to preparing for it in terms of procedures and dates for its success.”

Aboul Gheit said that he discussed with the Algerian president “the overall international, regional and Arab situation in great depth”.

On Monday evening, the Secretary-General of the Arab League arrived in Algeria, where he held talks with Foreign Minister Lamamra on the preparations for the summit.
