Lebanon | Parliament Approves Mikati’s Government with 85 Out of 100 Confidence Votes

The Lebanese parliament approved on Monday the new cabinet formed by the prime minister Najib Mikati, as 85 out of 100 members granted confidence votes to the government.

The session, which was delayed for around an hour due to the power cut, witnessed several quarrels between some members of the parliament.

Twenty members of the parliament representing the various blocs addressed the session and tackled mainly the ongoing economic crisis, the US intervention in Lebanon’s domestic affairs, Hezbollah decision to break the US siege and import the Iranian fuel, as well as the Israeli aggression on Lebanon’s maritime rights and resources.

After discussing the ministerial statement of the new government, the members of the parliament voted on granting confidence. 85 out of 100 voters endorsed the government, which was formed on September 10, 2021.
