Abu Dhabi Meets South Sudan President

Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, met South Sudan President Lt General Salva Kiir Mayardit, who was visiting the UAE.

During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations and ways to enhance them in all fields, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of common interest.

Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed President Salva Kiir and discussed with him bilateral relations between the UAE and South Sudan and enhancing and expanding their horizons in various fields in the best interests of the two friendly countries. They also tackled several regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The meeting also touched on Expo 2020 Dubai and the importance of South Sudan’s participation in this global event to highlight the country’s vision for the future.

Mohamed bin Zayed expressed the hope that the peace agreement, signed in January, will help bring about peace, stability, unity and development to South Sudan.

He reaffirmed the UAE’s support for realizing South Sudan people’s aspirations for development and prosperity, noting that “this support emanates from the country’s approach to support regional peace and cooperation”.

President Salva Kiir, for his part, lauded the UAE’s pioneering development drive and expressed his country’s desire to further enhance ties in all fields.
