Hamas: Releasing Palestinian Prisoners is a Priority

The Hamas Movement confirmed its ongoing keenness on releasing Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons at all costs.

“On the Palestinian prisoner’s day, Palestinian resistance is ready and willing to implement another deal similar to Wafa al-Ahrar swap deal in 2011,” the Movement said in a press statement on Sunday.

The Israeli prison authorities must be held accountable for their deliberate policies and practices against Palestinian prisoners, including administrative detention, isolation, beatings, medical neglect, storming, and deprivation of basic human rights, according to the Movement.

“Persecuting Palestinian MPs, arresting them, and summoning them for investigation are crimes that Israel commits in a bid to curb their influence in the Palestinian arena,” the Movement stressed, warning that Israeli violations of international norms and conventions will not go unnoticed.

Hamas recalled, on the occasion of the Palestinian Prisoner Day, that 4,800 Palestinian prisoners are still held in Israeli prisons including 150 minors, 32 women, 535 administrative detainees, and 700 patients.
