Iraq’s President Barham Salih met a delegation of Women from Chaldeans, Assyrians and Syriacs at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad.
At the outset of the meeting, Salih hailed the role played by the people of the Christian faith in Iraq.
They are proud of their national identity as they stood shoulder to shoulder with their brothers of other Iraqi components to address the challenges and to fight against terrorism and the violence, Salih said, stressing that they are the indigenous peoples in Iraq.
He noted that Iraqi Women were subjected to the most heinous crimes committed by the terror as they worked to address the challenges presented by the difficult circumstances that they faced.
The President further spoke about the importance of supporting women, referring to the need for greater empowerment and for promoting women’s equality.
