Amirabdollahian: Iran, IAEA ties are on right track

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian stressed that relations between Tehran and the agency are on the right track.

In a telephone conversation with EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, the parties discussed the dialogue to cancel the sanctions, the situation in Ukraine and the cooperation between the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Borrell stressed the need to speed up the implementation of the recent agreement between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency regarding the resolution of safeguards issues.

Last week, the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, following the two-day visit of Rafael Grossi, to Tehran, reached an agreement to resolve the safeguards issues, based on which Iran will voluntarily allow the Agency to carry out further verification and monitoring activities, if needed.

The method of its implementation will be agreed upon in the technical meetings between the two parties.
