Iran | Raisi after Meeting Al-Kadhimi: To develop Iran-Iraq relations in different fields

Iran’s President stressed, following his meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister, the need to develop Iran-Iraq relations in the political, economic, and cultural fields.

“In today’s meeting, the will of the two governments to further develop Tehran-Baghdad relations in all areas was emphasized.” Ebrahim Raisi said on Sunday in a joint press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.

He stated that Tehran-Baghdad relations are not just neighborly relations, adding “The deep bonds between Tehran and Baghdad stems from the beliefs and hearts of two nations, two countries and two governments”.

The President said “Despite the wishes of the enemies, the level of relations between Iran and Iraq will develop day by day.”

He went on to say “The development of relations between the two countries can strengthen the role of Tehran and Baghdad in regional, global and international relations, and today the emphasis was on strengthening and deepening the relations between the two countries.”

Referring to Iraqi Prime Minister’s statements on the abolition of travel visas for the two countries, Raisi said “In today’s meeting, the will of the two countries to develop the rail corridor and accelerate establishing rail connection between Shalamcheh and Basra were stressed, and the development of financial and monetary relations between the two countries were discussed.”

On the Arbaeen, Raisi said “Undoubtedly, in the current situation of coronavirus, the protection of the lives of the dear pilgrims is very important, but at the same time, the Iraqi Prime Minister promised to increase accepting as many pilgrims as possible.”
