Lebanon’s Elections.. Second Phase of Expatriate Voting Begins in UAE and 21 Other Countries

On Sunday, the second phase of the Lebanese expatriate voting in the parliamentary elections started in 48 countries.

Lebanese Foreign Ministry stated, in a statement, that Australia was the first country in which the expatriate voting began, on the night of Saturday-Sunday.

The ministry also made it clear that the United States will be the last to open the ballot boxes in front of them, given the time difference.

On Friday, the first round of voting by expatriates took place in 10 countries: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Qatar, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain and Syria.

The turnout in the round amounted to around 60 percent, according to the Lebanese Foreign Ministry, while the elections will be held inside the country on May 15. Parliamentary elections are held in Lebanon every four years.

103 electoral lists comprising 718 candidates distributed over 15 electoral districts are competing in the elections to select 128 deputies in Parliament.

Polling stations opened in the Emirates, today, Sunday, at 06:00 am Beirut time for 2566 voters, distributed among 3 polling stations that include 52 polling centers.

Polling stations opened at 7:00 am Beirut time in each of the following countries:

Turkey where the number of voters is 999 to vote in one polling station that includes three polling centers.

Russian Federation, where the number of voters is 323 at one polling station and one polling centers.

Romania where the number of voters is 696 voters are distributed among two polling stations and one polling center.

Helania where the number of voters is 528 distributed among two polling stations and one polling center.

Cyprus where the number of voters is 840 distributed among two polling stations and two polling centers.

Polls where opened in 16 European and African countries at 08:00 am Beirut time:

France where the number of voters is 27,813 distributed among 80 polling stations and 173 polling centers.

Germany where the number of voters is 16,171 distributed among 20 polling stations and 51 polling centers.

Sweden where the number of voters is 40.23 distributed among 4 polling stations and 10 polling centers.

Belgium where the number of voters is 30.92 distributed among one polling station and 8 polling centers.

Switzerland where the number of voters is 2,601 voters distributed among 3 polling stations and 6 polling centers.

Italy where the number of voters is 2128 voters distributed among two polling stations and 6 polling centers.

Spain where the number of voters is 1226 distributed among two polling stations and 4 polling centers.

The Netherlands where the number of voters is 965 voters distributed among three polling stations.

Denmark where the number of voters is 706 voters distributed among two polling stations and 3 polling centers.

Austria where the number of voters is 282 voters distributed among one polling station and one polling center.

Poland where the number of voters is 215 voters and one polling center.

Luxembourg where the number of voters is 200 voters distributed among one polling station and one polling center.

Hungary where the number of voters is 221 distributed among one polling station and one polling center.

Zambia where the number of voters is 410 voters distributed among one polling station and one polling center.

South Africa where the number of voters is 405 distributed among one polling station and one polling center.

The Congo where the number of voters is 202 distributed among one polling station.

It should be noted that the expatriate voting continues until 11:00 pm Beirut time in the following countries: France, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, Poland, Luxembourg, Hungary, Zambia and South Africa.

Moreover, 48 European, American and African countries, along with the United Arab Emirates, are participating today in the second phase of the elections for 194,348 Lebanese abroad.

The electoral process ends Monday morning, Beirut time, with the closing of the polls in the USA..
