Arab Tribes and Clans in Aleppo Hold a Memorial Ceremony for Gen. Soleimani, Al Muhandis

Arab tribes and clans in Syria’s northern province of Aleppo held a memorial service to mark the third martyrdom anniversary of Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al Muhandis.

The ceremony was held in the Marjeh neighborhood, one of the neighborhoods located east of Aleppo that witnessed the most violent fighting led by General Soleimani before its liberation in late 2016.

The commemoration included a photo exhibition of Gen. Soleimani during the battles in Syria against terrorist organizations and another for the martyrs of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) advisers and the Popular Defense Forces fighters who died during those battles.

Tribal leaders praised Gen. Soleimani’s role in establishing the Popular Defense Forces and supporting tribesmen to confront terrorists across Syria leading to its liberation.

The United States assassinated General Soleimani, the former commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)’s Quds Force, along with Abu Mahdi Al Muhandis, deputy commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units, and their companions, in a drone strike near the Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
