After 141-Days of Hunger Striker, Hisham Abu Hawwash to Be Released

Lawyer Khaled Mahajna said on Tuesday that Palestinian prisoner Hisham Abu Hawwash suspended his 141-day hunger strike following an agreement with Israeli jailers to release him soon.

According to the agreement, Mahajna added, Abu Hawwash will be released on February 26.

Hisham Abu Hawwash, a 40-year-old father of five from the West Bank town of Dura, is the latest of several Palestinians who went on hunger strike in recent months to protest being held under “administrative detention”, a measure where a prisoner is held indefinitely without charge or trial.
