Thousands of Albanian Muslims Gather for Start of Eid

A large crowd of worshippers gathered on Tirana’s central Skanderbeg Square to perform Eid al-Fitr prayers on Monday.

Eid al-Fitr marks the start of a three-day holiday that comes after the month of Ramadan.

According to the latest census data from 2011, 56.7 per cent of Albania’s population adheres to Islam, making it the largest religion in the southeastern European country.
